Capturing our ideas at the speed of thought is difficult. From the first cuneiform tablet - chiseled out at the dawn of time. Next we used notes and scribbled on parchment and paper scraps. Eventually we gained small portable audio recorders... I think the really old one's used mini-tapes! I recommend picking up the more recent digital versions. While convenient and effective for capturing our thoughts - - What is the point if no one hears those ideas? (* I am reminded of a Tree, falling in the forest - and not a soul around to hear it...) Now - PODCAST! This technology has the potential of being more than just a broadcast tool. You are able to easily capture your voice working through the thoughts as they occur. And you get them down in a form that can be reused in hundreds of different ways. But first you have to capture that thought. One simple way is to Record From Your Desk. When the idea hits, drop the microphone and open your recording software. Most popular operating systems are equipped with very simple recording tools. Some other Podcasting Software is available for you to consider! OK - So we gave up on using little scraps of paper to keep very important thoughts and ideas on. Long gone are the days when an industry could be revolutionized by a paper napkin and a bar room conversation. People want to know your thoughts faster than those scraps of paper can be found in last week’s laundry. Give the people what they want. As you brainstorm ideas about solutions to your client's greatest problem - capture those thoughts and ideas digitally. You will need a digital voice recorder to do this. So pick one up and carry it around everywhere. Don't be rude - but pop it out whenever inspiration strikes!! Some great devices that come to mind are made by AudioVox, Panasonic, iClick, Sony, and Olympus. Finally, I want to introduce you to a very new method of capturing your ideas (or those of your customers & clients). The idea is not very new - but the application of this idea using today's digital delivery methods is revolutionary! I am talking about recording your message using a mobile phone or telephone. Not very new - right? But remember the goal - get the thought into a useable format for delivery and discussion! And today you can do that - with any thought, comment, testimonial, or review. You simply call the special number you have designated for this use, and record the comment. Then download the segments later - when it is convenient. Check it out over at Instant Audio Generator!! This tool rocks - and you can record your thoughts anytime, anywhere. And more importantly you can make use of this audio again and again in multiple formats. Keep in mind that your raw voice captures the emotion of this new thought as it is being born! How exciting and engaging for your listeners that would be! Just imagine the reaction of your current clients hearing your voice speed and slow - pitch and drop - as you work through their problem out loud. It would be quite exciting and might lend a new level to community blogging and forum groups. Just imagine open discussion forums with actual audio flowing between users as they post questions, thoughts, and responses... Which brings up a great point! Audio Comments to your blog entry and podcast can carry a heavy digital price tag. Those little files do add up to large bandwidth and storage problems. The upside to Audio Comments is the instant, emotional feedback of happy customers. And the heartfelt, trustworthiness of a voice testimonial. So the next time you have a great idea - use your mobile phone to call Instant Audio - or use your digital recorder to capture the ideas - or open your computer microphone and record the tidbit in a fast recorder - What are you waiting for? I am sure you had a dozen great ideas you want to follow up on, or share with the world while you were reading this article! Why haven't you recorded those ideas in a Pod already? Oh - perhaps you don't yet have a website, or that site needs podcasting technology added. Subscribe Now! Hear Exclusive News & Content on the PoorCast |
